How much does window installation cost?

Installing windows can be timely and expensive. As a window manufacturer, we can mitigate some of the expenses associated with window installation.
So, how much does window installation cost?
Window installation total cost = product cost + labor time + tools & supplies. You can get an overall lower window installation cost if you can offset the time or tools & supplies with a product that saves labor time and supply and tool rental.
Window Installation Tips
1. Choose the right product.
Choosing the correct product for the opening can save you so much time and headache in the field. Some things to consider when choosing a product is, is this a replacement project that has to span an old opening, or is this a new construction project that spans floor to ceiling mulling many windows together? Determine what type of window accessories will best fit your project. Your Peerless Application Engineer will be able to help you determine this. The image below on the left is a 3D model of window accessories that will span an old opening for an easier installation. The image on the right is a sill detail showing a different frame option that works well in a variety of situations.
2. Co-extrude accessories when possible
Once you have chosen the type of window accessories, ask about co-extruding the accessory onto the window frame. Co-extruding accessories will mean fewer parts and pieces in the field and eliminate the need to field trim accessories. Both of those things combine to give you a more efficient installation. 3. Get installation holes pre-drilled
Now that you have co-extruded accessories, we can provide project-specific installation holes to make it easy to sit the window in the opening plumb and square and quickly fasten them. Some internal time studies have shown that co-extruded accessories with pre-drilled holes have cut a simple punched opening in half.
4. Unitize windows
Our window systems can come in a large variety of frame types unitized in one single master frame so that you can install more square footage at one time. Unitizing a bank of windows means you will mull fewer windows together in the field, leading to shorter installation time, less material, and easier quality control.
5. Get product pre-assembled
The industry has struggled with a skilled labor shortage. Recently we have started to build pre-assembled unitized systems up to 12' wide and 10' tall in our facility and ship them to the job site for a quick installation. For a system this big, you will need machinery to help move the system. We installed a 12' section in 30 minutes with three people and a glass lifter. Installing large systems will allow you to speed up the whole project installation.
6. Pre-order the whole project
One of the biggest struggles in the window industry is sticking to the project schedule. We never want our customers to be the reason a project is behind, so we offer these simple solutions. There are many benefits to ordering a project all at once and ahead of schedule. Letting us produce a project early secures the pricing. We also have a secured warehouse in Nevada, MO, where pallets are organized by the truckload for quick and easy shipping when you need them.
For years, we have helped our customers become more efficient to save them time and money. If you have any questions or need a quote for your next project click the button below!
